I am a licensed Psychologist in independent practice in Westport, Connecticut for over twenty-two years. I provide counseling and psychotherapy services to adolescents, adults, and couples with mood disorders, interpersonal problems, substance abuse issues, and difficulties arising from family conflict. I specialize in working with adults and adolescents experiencing psychological difficulties, and sensitively and compassionately seek to help clients learn to resolve their struggles via adaptive means. I perform psychological assessments for psychotherapy to inform your present therapy or facilitate entry and success in psychological counseling and conduct such assessments for adoptions as well as substance abuse evaluations for the purpose of helping individual clients and their families determine whether a substance use disorder is present and to decide upon the necessary level of care to address any such issue. I also conduct forensic evaluations for child protection and juvenile delinquency matters as well as in adult criminal and civil cases to assess intelligence, personality, and behavioral and social-emotional functioning. My psychotherapeutic treatment orientation is a humanistic and supportive one where I seek to provide cognitive behavioral skills training and physical activity counseling to assist clients for coping with psychological vulnerabilities while helping individuals build better psychodynamic understanding of themselves and their circumstances as well a healthier and more accepting perspective on their struggles.  I have written two psychological tests (Conflict Resolution Problem Solving Cards; Divorce Problem Solving Cards) for use in assessment and treatment with children that are published by Childswork/Childsplay.  I am a volunteer with Give an Hour providing psychotherapy and counseling services to veterans and active duty members of our military services as well as to healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, and also volunteer with other social service and human rights organizations.  I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the Connecticut Psychological Association and well connected with many other Psychologists in the area and so always willing to help you find another Psychologist or other mental health professional or treatment program if I might not be the best option for you or when you might presently require a higher level of care.
